Caravans are parked on the actual site of the Historic Civil War Battle of Rowton Moor. On 24th September 1645, the Parliamentary forces, under Major General Poyntz, defeated the Royalist Army under Sir Marmaduke Langdale. This battle sealed the fate of Chester, and King Charles 1st retreated over the Old Dee bridge to Wales.
